ERERA’s Chairman Visits Energy Commission of Ghana
The new Chairman of the Regulatory Council of the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA), Professor Honoré Bogler, led a three-member delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Board Chairman of the Energy Commission of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Ampofo and the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Michael Opam, on Wednesday, 20th April 2016 in Accra, Ghana.
Professor Bogler said the visit was to familiarize himself with the leadership of the Energy Commission and to express his appreciation over the Commission’s hospitality, in particular by playing host to ERERA in Accra.
While expressing the need for deeper ties between the two institutions, the new ERERA boss called for the support of the Energy Commission in its efforts to secure its own headquarters.
Welcoming the delegation, the Board Chairman assured Professor Bogler of the continued support of the Energy Commission at all times.
“It will be our pride to know that we have contributed to the success of ERERA”, he said, adding that ERERA’s upliftment would positively affect the Energy Commission.
He described the presence of the ERERA delegation as “a visit to announce another phase in our relations”.
Dr. Ampofo also pledged his support to ERERA’s quest for its own headquarters, a step he said would symbolize the institution’s growth and development.
In addition, he expressed the hope that ERERA’s headquarters would be a centre of excellence that would attract people and be beneficial to the citizens of West Africa.
In his remarks, Mr. Michael Opam recalled his long-time relations with ERERA, and pledged to work collaboratively with the regional electricity regulator to ensure it achieves its objectives.
